Welcome to American Countess
I’m Julie Montagu, an American from a small town outside Chicago who married into the British aristocracy. My husband, Luke, is the Earl of Sandwich, and we live at Mapperton House (the nation’s finest manor house) in the stunning West Dorset countryside.
Please join me in my day-to-day life as an American-born Countess in England, or for a glorious day out as I meet other friends and owners of castles, manor houses, and stately homes.
You’ll see how we’ve adapted to the 21st century, and I’ll be learning about the history of my family and estate as well as other homes. And while living in a historic house can be truly breathtaking, I’m also keen to roll up my sleeves and help out with a few jobs along the way.
